The Strengthening Multi- Ethnic Families and Communities Parent Training Program utilizes a facilitative model and requires that ALL instructors go through an intensive Five-Day Facilitator Training Workshop where they experience the training process, learn program concepts, and explore the impact of culture and values on how they were raised and on their own child rearing attitudes and behaviors. Each workshop participant receives a Facilitator Training Set (English or Spanish). Although most participants have a professional background, "identified parent graduates" are encouraged to take the training. Participants learn facilitative techniques that encourage parent participation, and that support parents in integrating curriculum concepts within their own cultural framework.
