Parenting Across Cultures is the home of the Strengthening Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities: A Violence Prevention Parent Training Program. (The Program is known in
the UK as the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities: An inclusive Parent Programme.) This strength-based Prevention-Intervention Program utilizes a cultural framework to assist parents in raising children to lead violence free, healthy lifestyles. Dr. Marilyn Steele, a Child Clinical Psychologist and the Founder of Parenting Across Cultures, developed the curriculum in 1994 in collaboration with three other colleagues. Over 5,000 Facilitators (March 2008) have been trained in four countries (US, UK, Ireland, Australia), and Parent Materials are now available in 24 languages. Our PARTNERS have successfully implemented the curriculum with parents from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds, and have effectively impacted a variety of target groups. |

As Program Developer and
Master Trainer, Dr. Steele
will share her thoughts,
insights and experiences to
clarify curriculum issues, to
“raise conscious awareness”
of process issues, and to encourage facilitators to
take a more active role in
the development and
promotion of the program. |
