I've reflected on my own upbringing, questioned myself as a parent and decided to make some positive changes.
York, June 2007
I really didn't know what to expect, but it was very useful and enjoyable. This is a program which I find included all the parents feelings as well. It is about giving ideas to parents not telling them to do things. TH, July 2007 The facilitator was encouraging, engaging and had a natural flow to her presenting style. I felt respected and supported in the learning process. London, September 2007 I have a better understanding of the reasoning behind behavior in the people in my life and those of my past. Manchester, June 2007 I did not expect it to be so in-depth and look into so many areas and give them equal time and value. I did not expect it to impact me so much. Manchester, June 2007 I particularly liked the discipline examples, they were very practical. I also liked the way that cultural issues were integrated into the program. Derby, Oct 2007 The Strengthening Families Curricula met the criteria for our border city. In addition, the curriculum does not discriminate on family size, race, ethnicity, problem, socioeconomic status, class, or disability yet targets the family as a whole and stresses a healthy lifestyle free of violence. --Jackie Hanson, Baptist Child & Family Services (I use this program) because of the incredible insight that the founder had into the intricacies of raising
children in a multicultural and multiracial society. The tools that are given are one of a kind and have a
tremendous impact not only on the parents, but also on the entire family.

A good course. It equips participants well to deliver parenting support in many capacities.
It is non-judgmental and culturally sensitive, acknowledging that we have all had a social-historical trainer.
Haringey, England May 2007 I am proud of what I got from different subcultures and my family. I feel in authority to make a choice about who I want to be. TH 9.07 |

Families have consistently reported that the content explored in the sessions helps them develop new skills
and understand parenting strategies better. They appreciate the opportunity to come together to talk about what
they are trying, and what is working well or is challenging. The facilitator has created a warm and welcoming
space where families are able to support one another and build on their own strengths. --Rachel Borella,
Northshore Family Center
There were many areas of this training I found very useful and so it will be an added behavioral modification program for me in building better relationships as I journey through life. Haringey, England May 2007 I thoroughly enjoyed the program and would recommend it to others. Croydon 9.07 All of it was a great experience: Sorry it’s done and over. I will miss the whole experience. Croydon 9.07 That this is not a behavior modification program but a program to strengthen families and their values. Derby Oct 2007 During the sessions we stressed the need to organize ourselves as a core group to carry out some community action program. We were able to put across this idea and we are happy that we were able to form an Organization as "Society for people in need". Our main objective is to provide assistance and support to those in genuine need. We hope that this society would be a good forum to address issues pertaining to families in particular and the community in general. The ultimate goal must be to create an environment of violence free healthy life styles for everybody. Finally we thank Dr. Marilyn L. Steele for the invaluable document and the intensive training program. --David Ajak Deng's, Noble Park Group
