Spanish
speaking families have always been a strong part of our community
since we started the Strengthening
Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities program in 1993. We
currently have many Spanish-speaking Facilitators, and many facilitators
in general who work with the Spanish community.
In 10 years, curriculum use among Hispanic families expanded with Spanish translation materials used in 30 U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
There has been a notable increase in the number of Spanish materials ordered over the years, from 9% in 1996 to 33% in 2010. The highest rate of use is in Arizona, California, Florida, and Washington.
In addition, Spanish is the only other language in the U.S. in which we offer Facilitator Training Workshops. We have greatly enjoyed working with the Spanish Community and look forward to even more growth in this group with the use of the SMEFC program.
