Program Components

There are many different components to effective implementation of the Strengthening Multi-Ethnic Families and Communities Program. In addition to the topics highlighted below, facilitators must attend an intensive Five-Day Facilitator Training Workshop. The program also includes a built-in Evaluation Process. The information highlighted in this section is related to program philosophy, program content, and program teaching process.

PROGRAM FOUNDATION (pdf)
This section describes the program's underlining philosophy and approach to the development and implementation of the curriculum. It presents The Building Blocks of Success, the schematic that ties all curriculum topic areas together. The program's emphasis on ethnic-cultural-family-spiritual roots is also addressed.

CURRICULUM COMPONENT AREAS
Information is presented to parents in five component areas. The information provided under each of the component areas listed below outlines objectives and activities, and shows the schematic that ties all component topic areas together. Examples showing how the information is presented in Power Point, and in the Parent Manual are also included.

PROGRAM TEACHING PROCESS (pdf)
Information is presented on the different teaching methods used in implementing the program. The Facilitative-Discussion Format is described, and information is provided on reading level, the use of role-play, and follow-up activities. Samples of worksheets are also included.
